WCC Judge Skills Program

Designed for those looking to learn more about the World Coffee Championships and begin their journey towards becoming a World Coffee Championships (WCC) Certified Judge.

Led and organized by certified WCC Reps (https://wcc.coffee/wcc-reps), these local-level workshops provide in-depth insights to help you understand the judging process and scoring system of the World Coffee Championships (WCC), serving as the first step toward becoming a WCC Certified Judge.

Following the training, attendees can expect to leave with an understanding of the WCCs while developing their judging skills and learning how competitions are scored. The training program was formed to align with the Specialty Coffee Association's most up-to-date research, including incorporating the latest WCC Rules & Regulations, and logic from the Coffee Value Assessment system.


Program Overview

The WCC Judge Skills Program is an educational course designed to help you understand the judging process and scoring system of the World Coffee Championships (WCC), serving as the first step toward becoming an WCC Certified judge.

Through this program, participants will receive training in the following areas:

  • Judging criteria, scoring methods, and evaluation systems for WCC competitions
  • The latest SCA research and WCC judging regulations
  • Evaluation training based on the Coffee Value Assessment (CVA) system

This course is recommended for anyone aspiring to become a WCC judge or seeking an in-depth understanding of the judging system. It is also beneficial for competitors who wish to gain a deeper insight into WCC judging criteria, as well as for any coffee professionals and enthusiasts interested in WCC.

  • Competition Body (CB) Judges: Those who want to advance from judging at national competitions to serving on WCC judging panels.
  • Competitors: Those aiming to optimize their competition preparation through a comprehensive understanding of judging criteria and scoring methods.

This program provides essential foundational knowledge for those preparing for the WCC Judge Certification and offers a systematic pathway toward becoming a WCC judge.


Session will take place in person at One Half Coffee Roastery, Section 11.
